Tikatok's Book Writing program is a unique literacy program for libraries that gets children into the library and excited about reading and writing.
During the event, children write and illustrate their own stories using Tikatok's original library of StorySparks - frameworks that help guide children through the story writing process. Once the stories are completed, they are printed into real books - something tangible each child can feel proud of.
Tikatok's Book Writing program is quick to organize and easy to host. Simply choose a day and time for the 90-minute event, download the materials and mail the completed stories to us to be printed into real books. It really is THAT easy!
During the 90-minute event, children will spend time writing and illustrating their stories using an original library of StorySparks. StorySparks, invented by Tikatok, are story frameworks children may need to help them write their stories. These are not fill in the blanks, but instead are suggestions or even questions, such as "What happens to the princess next?" to help stimulate the child's own imagination and storytelling skills.
Simply print the StorySparks and provide pencils and markers. Tikatok...and the kids...do the rest!

It's Unique and Affordable
Tikatok offers a unique service to publish and print affordable copies of children's stories in hard or soft copies. Individual books are available to libraries for as little as $7 and include the child's "about the author" photo and bio, making it something tangible for a child to take away from the event and be proud of.

The program virtually runs itself! Tikatok will provide you with all the materials you need to run a successful and fun writing event for your library. Our extensive library of StorySparks are there to guide children along in the writing process with a minimum of supervision.
Tikatok will work with your library to put together a package that meets your needs, budget and volume. Below are just a few of the options:
Plus! Package
This option is for those with little time to organize and host an event. This option includes all of the materials needed to run the program, along with ready-made promotional posters and the uploading of each child's book to the website. Package includes one printed book per child. Prices start at $10 per child.
Basic Package
This package is for those with tighter budgets. This option includes all of the materials needed to run the program, without all the bells and whistles. Once each child has completed their story, just scan and upload them to the site (don't worry, we'll show you how!) and we'll have them printed and shipped to you. Prices start at $7 per child.
Digital Package
With the digital package, each child receives a digital copy of their book that can be viewed on the Web, emailed, and shared with family and friends. This option includes all of the materials needed to run the program, along with ready-made promotional posters and the uploading of each child's book to the website. Parents can choose to print their child's book directly from the website, keeping the cost down for your library! Prices start at $4 per child.
